Essential Care Centers Services: Conditions We Treat

Mood Disorders

We all have days that can be described as “ups and downs.” You wake up happy, but something makes you feel sad, and then something else makes you feel better. You are grateful that you woke up, then realize you have to go to a work you do not like; then you smell coffee or think of an important appointment that day and feel better again… You get in traffic, feel irritable, but then you arrive on time for an important meeting – grateful again.

All day, our mood goes up and down, up and down. However, for those who have mood disorders, more often than not, when their mood swings, it either goes way up or way down and stays more than they want it to. The mood stays that high or low usually for days or weeks, months even, they need help to feel good again. They lack the energy to pull themselves up or the ability to bring themselves down. That is where we come in.

Anxiety Disorders

We all worry regularly; about ourselves, or about things, about issues, as well as worrying about other people that are important to us. Despite these “concerns” most of us are able to put our worries out of our minds in order to accomplish our activities of daily living or carry on with our lives. Those with Anxiety disorders worry too much about things that are out of their control. Their levels of anxiety hamper their abilities to fully function in society; they have difficulty or lack the ability to control or to stop themselves from worrying about these things.

Some of them have a hard time focusing on things they need to pay attention to, others have trouble falling asleep, others just feel restless or pent up, among other things. But help is not too far away. There are effective treatments for anxiety disorders; some people need medications, but some don’t but all of them need help to put these thoughts and concerns under control in order to function at their best. That is where we come in.

Trauma

Things happen to us that leave indelible marks on our lives, things that shape our personalities and/or our behaviors, or our perspectives about other people or issues.  Sometimes, these things are huge and dramatic and easy to understand. But, sometimes, certain things happen to us or people we care about, or we witness something that we perceive as “unspeakable,” “unbelievable.” Some people are able to put these things away and move on. For some people, these incidents follow them, seeking an opportunity to be processed. They poke their heads out in dreams at night (nightmares) or intrusive thoughts in the daytime that compel them to relive those experiences, just as if they were happening all over again (flashbacks).

Some people no longer have nightmares or flashbacks, but they avoid certain people, places, or things because they remind them about the incidents. Other people live the rest of their lives “on guard” thinking the same or similar offense will happen again. These thoughts and behaviors become a burden on their life experiences. You did not deserve to be abused or traumatized, and you do not deserve to live a life of limitations due to that abuse or trauma. We provide a safe place where you can start processing your trauma and end the suffering once and for all.

ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Essential Care Centers Minneapolis

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) has several types. Most of us know of the Hyperactive and the Impulsive types. People with the hyperactive type are always on the go, doing something, and/or have difficulty sitting still. They fidget if they have to sit, talk a lot, etc. People with the impulsive type are impatient and have difficulty waiting for anything or for their turn and hate standing in line, etc. They also speak out of turn and blurt out their thoughts with little or no regard for the consequences of the things they say.

The other type of ADHD that is prevalent but easily goes undiagnosed and, therefore, untreated, is the inattentive type. People with ADHD-Inattentive Type or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), seem to forget more than what is usual, they misplace their keys and wallets frequently; they can walk into a room and forget why they went there in the first place. These people have difficulty tracking – when they are doing something and get distracted, they forget to return and complete the first thing they were doing. Consequently, they have a lot of unfinished tasks throughout their day. Maybe, it is old age, maybe not. Fortunately, there are tests that can definitely say if you have ADD or not. And, if you are found to have it, there are very effective treatments for the condition. Call for a quick assessment to see whether you need to be tested or not. You can be more productive than you think.

Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a thought disorder that affects some people and makes them believe things that may not be true or real. Sometimes they hear voices or see things that other people around them do not hear or see. These thoughts or hallucinations may be benign or mild and annoying.

But some people’s symptoms are serious- the voices may tell them to hurt themselves or other people, the thought distortions may prevent them from fully assimilating in society or becoming productive. Luckily, there has been so much innovation in this area, we may be able to help you improve your quality-of-life years. Call for an assessment.

Substance Use Disorder

Substance Use Disorder Essential CAre Centers Minneapolis

Some people drink alcohol, smoke or ingest something that alters their mood or thought processes temporarily. For some people, it is truly temporary and only in social settings. For others, they seem unable to stop or control the use of these substances and it is now hampering their functions in society, negatively impacting their productivity and/or their relationships. These people need help.

Other people use these substances to cover their pains or other symptoms that they have not processed yet and may not know how. There is also help for these. Call 612.441.2024 or go to www.essentialcarecenters.com for a an assessment or free consultation.
