About Us

Meet Dr. Sam Kpahn

Dr Sam Kpahn Education and Experience

Dr. Sam G. Kpahn became a mental health nurse in 2006, earned his Master of Science in Nursing in 2012 and earned his Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Minnesota in 2019. He has worked at the Anoka-Metro Regional Treatment Center, Fairview Riverside Hospital and, most recently, at Nystrom.

He has served as adjunct faculty or clinical instructor for both undergraduate and graduate students at local universities and currently precepts graduate nursing students at Winona State University and Walden University.

He seeks to provide compassionate care and serves persons with serious and persistent mental illnesses, including persons diagnosed with Mood and Anxiety Disorders, ADHD, Schizophrenia, PTSD, among others.

Dr. Sam’s specialties incluce mood disorders such as major depression, bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and ADHD

Your willingness to accept me and dedication to my learning experience has profoundly impacted my journey as a psychiatric nurse practitioner.

    When I joined your team, I was immediately struck by your passion for patient care and commitment to mental health. Your expertise and insights have been invaluable, and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from someone as experienced and knowledgeable as you.

    I appreciate your patience and the time you invested in mentoring me. Your guidance during our short time together was instrumental in helping me gain a deeper understanding of psychiatric nursing. How you approached patient care, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning was inspiring and enlightening.

    Dr Kpahn, the Man

    Dr. Sam is married, and lives with his wife and children in the Twin Cities. He loves music and long-distance driving and spends time volunteering at community services.

    He recently participated in the Walk for Recovery, and NAMI Walks, among others to raise awareness of substance use disorder and mental health in our communities.

    He loves teaching and is an ardent advocate for increasing the amount of mental health providers in the State.
    Considers himself a Christian but does not proselytize, interested in world politics but not a fanatic.
